Mr. Michael Kunke, CEO of the Michael Kunke Foundation, was honoured by the Abrem-Agona Circuit of the Komenda Edina Eguafo Abrem Municipality (KEEA) Education Service for his “outstanding commitment to educational development and community upliftment in the KEEA Municipality.” Through strategic partnerships and tireless efforts, he has significantly improved learning conditions by supporting infrastructure projects such as re-roofing junior high schools and providing school bags and stationery to pupils across several schools, easing the financial burden on families and encouraging student attendance. Beyond material support, Mr. Kunke’s foundation sponsors needy and talented students, giving them the chance to pursue their education with confidence. His generosity and dedication have inspired hope and nurtured potential in countless learners, making a lasting impact on the community and shaping future leaders. The presentation was done by Madam Mercy Akua Lissar, Director of Education for KEEA.
Our Intervention
The Michael Kunke Foundation has over the years worked with schools and communities within the KEEA Municipality to address barriers to education. Our interventions include:

- Learning Materials – provision of school bags, stationery, and teaching support materials to ease the financial burden on families.
- Student Sponsorships – targeted support for needy but talented students, ensuring they can pursue their education with dignity and confidence.
- Community Empowerment Programs – initiatives such as the Education Empowerment for Sustainable Communities (EESC), Digital Literacy Program, and the Women in Sexual Education (WISE) project, which collectively strengthen education, digital inclusion, and women’s empowerment.
Impact
Through these interventions, the Foundation has:
- Improved learning conditions in several schools within the Abrem Circuit.
- Enhanced school attendance by reducing the financial strain on families.
- Increased opportunities for disadvantaged learners to remain in school.
- Fostered a sense of hope and confidence in both learners and their communities.
The citation described our work as a source of “inspiration and nurtured potential in countless learners, making a lasting impact on the community and shaping future leaders.”
