Privacy Policy
Who We Are
This Privacy Policy explains how the Michael Kunke Foundation (“the Foundation”, “we”, “us”) collects, uses and protects personal information when you use michaelkunkefoundation.com, including when you apply to volunteer, sponsor a student, arrange a luggage donation, or contact us.
The Foundation is registered in Ghana (Reg. No. CG107252019) with the Registrar General’s Department and the Department of Social Welfare, and is based at our field office in Elmina, Central Region, Ghana.
Information We Collect
We only collect personal information that you choose to give us by filling in a form on this site. We do not require visitors to create an account, and we do not track you for advertising purposes.
Depending on which form you use, we may collect:
- Contact form: your name, email address, phone number, country, the subject of your enquiry, and your message.
- Sponsor a Student: your name and email address, and the sponsorship tier and frequency you select.
- Volunteer on the Ground application: your name, email address, country, proposed travel month, your chosen placement stream and duration, and any details you share about your skills, trade or course.
- Luggage Donation Guide registration: your name, email address, phone number, your intended travel or shipping date, and details of what you would like to give and how.
None of our forms ask for payment card details, passport numbers, or other sensitive identifiers. Where a form mentions a police background check (our volunteer placements), we do not collect the certificate itself through this website; that is arranged separately and directly with our team.
How We Use Your Information
We use the information you submit to:
- respond to your enquiry, application or registration;
- confirm details of a volunteer placement, sponsorship, or luggage donation drop-off;
- send you a reply by email, and where you have provided one, by phone or WhatsApp;
- keep an internal record of enquiries and applications so our team can follow them up.
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to any third party, and we do not use it for marketing emails unless you separately opt in to something that explicitly says so.
Where Your Information Is Stored
When you submit a form, your details are saved securely within our website’s own administration area. These entries are visible only to the Foundation’s website administrators; they are never displayed publicly on the site, and ordinary visitors or search engines cannot see them.
A copy of your submission is also sent by email to the relevant member of our team, so that we can act on it promptly.
Payments
Where a form leads to a payment (for example, sponsoring a student or donating), you are taken to Paystack, an independent, PCI-DSS compliant payment processor, to complete that payment securely. We do not see or store your card details; they are handled entirely by Paystack under its own privacy and security policies. We only receive confirmation that a payment was made, along with the amount and the sponsorship tier involved.
Cookies
This website keeps browsing simple and does not use advertising or tracking cookies. If you log in to the website’s administration area (for Foundation staff only), standard WordPress cookies are used to keep you signed in; these are not used for visitors browsing the public site.
Other Services This Site Uses
To keep the site fast and working well, a small number of outside services are used:
- Google Fonts: the typefaces used on this site are loaded from Google’s servers. Visiting a page on this site may send your browser’s IP address to Google as part of loading these fonts. Google’s privacy policy is available at policies.google.com/privacy.
- Paystack: our payment processor, described above. Paystack’s privacy policy is available at paystack.com/privacy.
- Social media links: this site links out to our Facebook, Instagram, YouTube and TikTok pages. Clicking these links takes you to those platforms, which have their own separate privacy policies.
- WhatsApp: phone numbers on this site that are WhatsApp-enabled link directly to WhatsApp’s own app or website if you choose to use them.
How Long We Keep Your Information
We keep enquiry, application and registration records for as long as reasonably necessary to respond to you, coordinate your visit or sponsorship, and keep accurate records for our own reporting and accountability. If you would like us to delete your information sooner, contact us using the details below and we will action this unless we are required to keep it for a legitimate administrative, legal or safeguarding reason.
Children’s Information and Safeguarding
This website’s forms are intended for adults (sponsors, volunteers, donors and partners), not for children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children through this website.
Information about the children and students we support through our programmes is handled separately from this website, under our own child protection and safeguarding standards. In accordance with those standards, personal contact details of pupils are never shared directly with sponsors or volunteers, and all correspondence involving a sponsored child is facilitated strictly through the Foundation.
Your Rights
You can ask us at any time to:
- tell you what personal information we hold about you;
- correct any information that is inaccurate or out of date;
- delete your information, where we are not required to keep it for a legitimate reason; and
- stop using your information for a particular purpose.
To make any of these requests, please contact us using the details below.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time, for example if we add a new form to the site or change how we work with a service provider. The date this policy was last updated will be shown at the top of this page once published.
