MKF and Raynet Re-Roof Akotobinsin Primary School Classroom in Elmina
ELMINA, GHANA — Resolving years of infrastructural disruption, the Michael Kunke Foundation has successfully re-roofed a severely damaged Class 5 classroom at Akotobinsin Methodist Primary School in Elmina. Funded by the Czech-based IT firm Raynet, the intervention addresses chronic weather-related challenges that previously forced water pooling during heavy rains and repeatedly compromised teaching and learning sessions.
Rapid Execution and Local Economic Empowerment
Executing the capital repair swiftly over a single Saturday, the project team safely removed and disposed of the old, perforated aluminum roofing sheets, replacing them with durable modern roofing slates. Aligning with the Foundation’s commitment to holistic community upliftment, the project purposely contracted local artisans from across the Komenda-Edina-Eguafo-Abrem (KEEA) Municipality, stimulating the grassroots economy while upgrading school infrastructure.
Stakeholder Gratitude and Future Vision
When students and staff returned on Monday morning, the transformation elicited overwhelming relief and excitement. Madam Emma Priscilla Wilson, headteacher of the school, expressed profound appreciation on behalf of the School Management Committee, Parents Association, staff, and pupils.
Founder and CEO Michael Kunke highlighted that the initiative falls directly under the Foundation’s Education Empowerment for Sustainable Communities (EESC) campaign. Encouraging pupils to maintain academic focus, Kunke thanked Raynet for their generous partnership and issued a call to local stakeholders to collaborate in resolving infrastructural deficits across KEEA schools.
