ELMINA, GHANA — Bridging the technological divide in primary education, the Michael Kunke Foundation has officially commissioned a state-of-the-art ICT centre at the Catholic Girls’ Primary School in Elmina. Funded by the Ireland-based technology firm RazorSpire with supplementary support from Nana Ekow Ankama of Lemon Beach Resort, this strategic intervention directly addresses longstanding infrastructural gaps in practical computing access across public basic schools.
Expanding the Digital Footprint in KEEA
Marking the second major digital facility delivered under the Foundation’s municipal Digital Literacy Initiative, this milestone follows the inaugural lab established at Elmina M/A School. Designed to transcend isolated donations, the initiative integrates hands-on ICT training directly into daily classroom workflows, fostering early problem-solving skills, technological confidence, and academic adaptability.
Advancing Girl-Centred Development and Equity
Sited purposefully within a single-sex institution, the project advances the Foundation’s core commitment to girls’ empowerment through education, proactively closing historical gender gaps in digital skills acquisition. Rose Ageiwaa, Head of Digital Technology Skills at the school, welcomed the development, noting that the facility equips pupils with practical “learning by doing” capabilities essential for modern academic progression.
Strengthening Local Systems Through Multi-Sector Partnerships
The initiative exemplifies a collaborative development model that unites private-sector stakeholders, local educational institutions, and community leadership to cultivate self-sustaining educational outcomes. By targeting early digital competence, the Michael Kunke Foundation continues to lay the groundwork for long-term human capital development and equitable digital inclusion throughout the region.
