MKF and RazorSpire Partner to Re-Roof Storm-Damaged Eguafo JHS Block
EGUAFO, GHANA — Over two years after a devastating afternoon storm tore the roof off the Junior High School (JHS) block at Eguafo M/A Basic School, definitive relief is finally arriving. Struck on April 8th, 2022, by fierce winds and thunder within the span of just two and a half hours, the school was left exposed without external assistance, forcing its 431 enrolled pupils including 318 primary students and 113 JHS learners hailing from Eguafo, Ponkrom, and Breman to endure persistent educational disruptions.
An Urgent Appeal Answered Through Strategic Partnership
Head Teacher Ebenezer Horace Eshun issued a heartfelt plea to safeguard the lives of students and staff at the historic institution, which has served the three neighboring communities since expanding its JHS program in 1957.
Through a vital partnership with new Irish collaborator RazorSpire, the Michael Kunke Foundation is stepping in under its Education Empowerment for Sustainable Communities (EESC) initiative. The collaborative intervention centers on re-roofing the damaged JHS block to restore a safe, weather-resilient learning environment.
Community Resilience and Shared Vision
Demonstrating strong grassroots ownership, local community members have rallied behind the project by providing accommodation for the construction artisans. This cooperative spirit mirrors the Foundation’s core motto to “Dare to Dream & Make a Difference,” proving that physical reconstruction goes hand-in-hand with reigniting hope for future generations.
